VINTAGE CARVED WOOD SOUL CATCHER MAN, STASH BOX,CUCKOO BIRD MOVES,SCULPTURE

Description

For bid is a vintage carved wood sculpture of what looks almost like a Tiki man face with arms and legs and a crazy looking Cuckoo bird that sits on top.  The bird can pivot back and forth.  It's such a whimsical piece and I was told that it is a "Soul catcher" not sure, but I would guess he's one of a kind.  The piece measures 13 3/4 in. tall to the top of the birds head and about 11 in. from hand to hand.  The top has a pin that you remove and the top slides sideways to reveal a stash box for all your little cool things.  There is a carved scull that sits on the top of the box that has an insect on it with wire antennas.  The bird has his tongue sticking out.  The box is 3 1/4 in. across the opening and 1 3/4 in. deep.  There was also a teeny tiny carved wood lion that was in the box when I found him.  It's a unique sculpture for sure.  He does have a drying crack, near the side, as seen in the last picture that's been there all the years I've had him, so doubt it's going anywhere.  He's mounted on a stand and is very secure.  There is 1 tiny flower petal that was chipped when I bought him and the insect may have had wings but again, this is the way I found him.  The piece is just over the top interesting. When I found him, the box was open and the bird wasn't attached so I put him back together again, any soul he had has long ago left, I would think.  Any questions, just ask.
