    Description

    Pair of lay-down cologne bottles of cut, colorless lead glass bottles with screw-on, sterling silver caps ornamented with repoussé foliate scrolls. Center of each cap is monogrammed JSR in script. Silver caps are marked with a lion passant for London, a leopard’s head for .925 sterling silver, and date letter Q in a shield for 1891. Maker’s marks are illegible and unidentified. Exhibited at the New Orleans Museum of Art in 2010 as part of the exhibition, “Scents and Sensibility: Scent Bottles and Related Accessories."
