    Description
A large antique French sterling silver liquor flask bottle. Decorated with wheel cut spiral fluting and engraved scrolling foliage. These highly collectible 'spirit' flasks are sometimes known as carriage flasks, portable for travel. The sterling mounts include a domed shaped lid, collar and removable tumbler at the base. Rare large size, perhaps intended for long travel in a carriage or car. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which depicts the head of the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to denote a silver content of .950/1000 (95% silver and a higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling.) Maker's marks for Henri Soufflot, 1884-1910 at 89 rue de Turbigo, Paris.. Measures 10" tall x 3" wide. The tumbler cup measures 2 7/8" height x 2 3/8" diameter opening. The silver weight is 79.3 grams. Condition: Filled chips to the inside mouth of the bottle. A small dent to the lid and to the bottom edge of the cup.
