Description

Japanese Vintage Portable Windup Meteorological Hygrometer by Ota Keiki Seisakusho. Includes the wooden case and several parts and accessories as well as a chart to convert readings and the leather case. Outer leather case is approximately 9” long and 4” wide and 4” deep. There are spaces for other parts that are missing. The leather case has literally fallen apart at the seams as they are almost all separated as the thread/stitching has decayed away. We were able to get some translations from the reference card, but nothing off the wood or leather cases.
The Ota Keiki Manufacturing company was founded in 1943 in Tokyo as a manufacturer of meteorological equipment. This particular device was found at the estate of a WWII veteran among other items and gear from the war. So it is possible this was made during that time.
