Ceramic Tankard with Silver Lid Maker MW Denmark Dated 1711 Medallion 6 ½” H 23.7oz
Presented is a rustic ceramic tankard or beer stein made
with blue accents hand hammered silver lid with medallion made and dated 1711. The mug has a light grey color with royal blue accents of a framed starfish. Atop is a beautiful hand hammered and chased medallion cap with a naturalistic fleur-de-lis thumb. It has a high finish with an ornate etched design around a beautiful medallion in the center dated 1711 with a figure on horseback. The lid as has marks for silver made in Naestved Denmark with a makers’ mark of MW. a friendly ebayer sent me the following information: the coin is identified as minted in Denmark by Christopher Woltereck (C.W.) 4 marck and is the same as 1 Krone! It is in beautiful condition with only a slight looseness of the lid. This silver is 826 fine; American standard sterling silver is 925, so there is slightly less silver in this alloy. It makes for a great addition for almost any collector.
