ANTIQUE WALLACE STERLING SILVER HOLDER W BOTTLE & CORK UNUSUAL EX-CONDITION

Description

This is an unusual item, a sterling silver bottle holder with a bottle made for the holder...at least size wise. I'm not sure what the bottle was suppose to hold originally; perhaps vinegar for fish and chips? The bottom of the holder twists off and the bottle is removed from the bottom. Including the cork, the piece measures 8" in height from the base to the top, and the diameter of the base is 2 3/8". There is a medallion in the center front for a monogram or shield but is unmarked. (no removal). The base is marked sterling with the old Wallace logo, and 1895-3 (either the year it was made or an inventory number). The weight of the sterling silver is 76 grams or 2.6 standard ounces. There are two very small indentations around the collar of the holder, barely noticeable; otherwise in great shape (there are remnants of a label on the bottle...no defects; please excuse reflections on photos).
