    Description

    RARE MINT ERROR
    Unbelievable NGC Obverse Struck Thru
    The date is unrecognizable
2nd error is NGC called the REVERSE the OBVERSE! LOL But they always do this!
This is a second edition Libertad! Reverse mounted forward.
The change in the lettering on the reverse From 1 ONZA and PLATA PURA to 1 OnZa and PlatA PuRA dates it from 1991-1995. In1996 they changed the entire reverse.
I give you one photo of the 4 reverse strikes the 1991(end of the 1982-1991 original reverse design. 1991 Type II beginning of new lettering style and with reeded edge (1991-1995)  the 1992 the new lettering on the reverse and the 1996 change to New reverse design. I had a lot of fun doing some research on this rare error Libertad.
So this is definitely a 1991-1995 reverse with reeded edge!  2nd Edition design
The Obverse "Mexican Coat of Arms" is in GEM BU condition with lovely rim toning. Super Eye Appeal
Look at the photos. This is definitely a conversation piece and rare error.
I paid a lot for it and have never seen anything like it.
If this fits your collection take it home. ;)
History of the Libertad Design Changes.
The 1st edition of the Libertad (1982-1991) has the lettered edge 36mm diameter and 3.47mm thick. Reverse is winged Victoria and obverse is Mexican Coat of arms.
    Lettering:
    INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD
    Translation:
    Independence and Liberty
    The 2nd edition (1991-1995)
has the reeded edge with a slightly different font on the reverse but with the same 36mm diameter and 3.47mm thickness. And yes both editions exist for 1991. Reverse is winged Victoria and obverse is Mexican Coat of arms.
The 3rd edition (1996-1999) changed diameter to 40 mm with a different obverse and reverse. Reeded edge. Reverse is winged Victoria and obverse is Mexican Coat of arms.
The 4th edition (2000-present) is 40 mm in diameter with reverse winged Victoria and the obverse is The coat of arms of Mexico surrounded by historical Mexican coats of arms. Reeded Edge
